Sadler's Wells Summer University

2 Aug 2011

The first of its kind in the UK, Sadler’s Wells Summer University is a four year open programme studying the art and craft of choreography.

The 15 students who embark on the first of their four year course this August are: Amy Bell, Cameron McMillan, Efrosini Protopapa, Gillie Kleiman, Danya Hammoud, Valentina Golfieri, Vicki Igbokwe, Alexander Whitley, Jamila Johnson Small, Melanie Teall, Wilkie Branson, Hemabharathy Palani, Hetain Patel, Matthias Sperling and Lorena Randi.

From 15 – 26 August 2011, the 15 young professionals ranging in age from 24 to 36 will be given the opportunity to work with award-winning choreographer and author Jonathan Burrows for a fortnight of intensive talks, lectures, discussions and workshops. With additional input from guest artists and speakers the course will focus on compositional and choreographic processes, performance and philosophies. It will also encourage participants to question how dance can be made and what it might communicate to somebody watching.
