FAQ's

For those working in the arts

A. No.  Our funding is targeted at supporting artists and activity in the UK. It is highly unlikely that we will fund activities happening outside of the UK .

Q. Can I apply for funding for my education/community project?

A. No. We support projects for professional artists who are not in formal education and are committed to professional careers. We will not offer funding to support amateur or community participation, or for activity taking place within formal or informal education.

Q. I am staging a performance/concert/festival, can I apply to you for the production costs?

A. No. We do not support the general costs of staging or producing an event and instead look for specific, targeted professional development opportunities in projects we take on.

Q. I'm touring a project around Britain. Can I apply for funding?

A. No. We do not support the general costs of touring events and instead look for specific, targeted professional development opportunities.

Q. We would like you to help us buy equipment or provide funding for a building extension, can you help?

A. No. We do not support capital purchases or capital projects. This exclusion covers everything from musical instruments and computer equipment to capital campaigns for buildings, whether new or for refurbishment.

Q. Do you support staff salaries?

A. No, not directly. We will support salaries as part of the overheads of a project with specific professional development aims, but are highly unlikely to provide funding for an individual role.

Q. Do you support exhibition costs?

A. No. We do not provide funding for the production or commissioning costs of exhibitions. The majority of our support for visual artists is channelled through the Jerwood Visual Arts programme, through which we directly support emerging artists and curators. This programme is primarily open submission and opportunities to apply can be found at www.jerwoodvisualarts.org.
