Who We Are
We are a UK registered charity, founded in 1999 by the Jerwood Foundation. In 2005, the Jerwood Foundation gifted an endowment of £25million to the Jerwood Charitable Foundation (JCF), establishing the JCF as an independent charity to deliver and develop Jerwood's revenue activity in the arts. Initially under the Directorship of Roanne Dods, Shonagh Manson took over as Director in early 2009. We are governed by a Board of Trustees chaired by Tim Eyles.
We are part of the Jerwood family of organisations, all of whom are dedicated to supporting emerging talent and excellence.
The Jerwood Foundation is a private Foundation established by Alan Grieve for John Jerwood in 1977. They actively initiate and undertake capital projects that refect their range of interests in the arts and education. A major capital project of the Jerwood Foundation is Jerwood Space, which opened in 1998. Run by Director Richard Lee, Jerwood Space has established itself as one of the best rehearsal spaces for dance and theatre in the UK. Jerwood Space is also the home of Jerwood Visual Arts; this contemporary gallery programme of awards, exhibitions and events is a major initiative of the Jerwood Charitable Foundation.
