Mendelssohn on Mull

This opportunity for young musicians has been thriving in recent years under the Artistic Directorships of Andrew Watkinson, and now Levon Chilingirian the celebrated violinist. The festival provides masterclasses and performance oppotunities for young musicians, who are are selected to take part in the festival. They work with experienced professionals on a varied programme to a tight time schedule. This gives them a taste of what they will face in their future careers. By providing fellowship with musicians from other traditions, and with artists from other disciplines, their horizons are broadened and living alongside other equally talented young people in an island setting of such beauty, they gain a better perspective than their intensive and sometimes lonely training may have provided

The festival has grown over recent years and and has now developed a touring programme which includes Dunoon, and Oban before the Mull concerts, and in 2003 for the first time to the Strathclyde Suite of the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.
