How to Apply

Please clearly check the eligibility of your proposal with our Funding Exclusions before submitting a proposal. Should you have any queries regarding the eligibility of your proposal, please contact our offices on +44 (0) 20 7261 0279. Due to the volume of enquiries we receive we regret that it is not always possible to have preliminary meetings or detailed telephone conversations before a written application is made.

Initial applications should be by short proposal, not more than two sides of A4, outlining a description of the organisation's aims (if applicable) or a short biography for individuals, and a description of the specific project for which funding is sought. A detailed budget for the project should accompany the proposal. You should also include details of any funding already in place for the project, including any other trusts or sources which are being or have been approached for funds. If funding is not in place, and you are not asking us to support the full amount needed to deliver the project we will require details of how you plan to secure the remaining funding.

Should we wish to take the application further we will request further documents, including full details of the management and staffing structure of your organisation (if applicable), including Trustees, and copies of your most recent annual report and audited accounts of the organisation, together with current management accounts if relevant to the project. Please do not send this information unless we have contacted you for it.

Applications are made and assessed throughout the year. Applications will be acknowledged on receipt, and are normally assessed initially by the Jerwood Charitable Foundation's staff, with the help of expert advisers where appropriate. Final decisions are made by the Board of Trustees; every effort will be made to achieve speedy decisions, usually within eight weeks of submission. In view of the number of proposals we receive we are not generally able to give detailed reasons for the rejection of an application. As the volume of applications is far larger than our available resources, we regret that inevitably some applications will have to be refused, even when they may appear a strong fit with our funding priorities.

During assessment, we may wish to enter into discussions or correspondence with an applicant which may result in modification and/or further development of a proposed project or scheme. Entering into any such discussion or correspondence will in no way commit the Jerwood Charitable Foundation to funding that proposal.

We aim to monitor funded projects closely and sympathetically, and are keen to seek recognition of our support. Successful applicants will be required to report to the Board of Trustees during and at the completion of their project and to provide the JCF with photographs and/or appropriate documentation of the work or project supported.

Please read the section on Funding Exclusions before submitting an application.
